678 0# $a Britský malíř, práce z oboru fotorealismu.
688 $a A British painter, author of photorealistic paintings with motifs of abandoned cars. Between 1952 and 1958 he studied at the Birmingham School of Art, and then until 1960 at the Slade School of Art in London, where he was significantly influenced by the works of Prunella Cloud and Robert Rauschenberg (leading figures of American pop art). After studies he was a teacher at the Stourbridge College of Art and in 1965 he became the first artist to have his first solo exhibition at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham. In 1966 he moved to the USA to Baltimore in Maryland. He was awarded a grant at the Maryland Institute College of Art. At the end of the 1960s John Salt resettled to New York, where he was fascinated by the car cemetery under the Brooklyn Bridge. At the end of the 1970s he returned to Great Britain (to Shropshire); but in his works he remained faithful to motifs from the USA. The central theme of Salt's work is abandoned and crashed cars which contrast with the suburban American landscape. His paintings were created from photographs using airbrush techniques and colour templates with which he achieved maximum realistic depiction. In a sense Salt's works provide evidence of the consumer society and constantly changing values. $b Jana Lešková
689 $a Britský malíř, autor fotorealistických maleb s motivy opuštěných automobilů. Získal zde stipendium na Maryland Institute College of Art. Koncem 60. let John Salt přesídlil do New Yorku, kde byl fascinovaný autovrakovišti pod Brooklynským mostem.
