| 688 | $a Alena Kotzmannová (b. 1974) is a visual artist and photographer. She lives and works in Prague. In 2014 she completed doctoral studies at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in art education. In 1998 she graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the Studio of Conceptual and Intermedial Art under Professor Adéla Matasová and in the studio of photography under Pavel Štecha. In 2005 and 2009 she was a finalist of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award, and in 2004 a finalist in the Jaromír Funke Award. In her mainly black-and-white photographic images Alena Kotzmannová explores the possibilities and paradoxes of this medium. She takes advantage of them to evoke different moods through an almost theatrical decorativeness or elements of horror. She often enters the realm of fictitious visuality which she achieves by the sophisticated play of light and shade. She shows us how narrow is the border between our reality and something out of this world. She often lets us feel that a story took place there which, however, is beyond our reach. It is gone. We only feel it from the expression of the photograph. All of this is accompanied by refined elegance and a feel for the sensitive depiction of reality in her photographs. Miloš Vojtěchovský | |
| 689 | $a Alena Kotzmannová (narozena 1974) je vizuální umělkyně a fotografka. Žije a pracuje v Praze. V roce 2014 ukončila doktorské studium na Pedagogické fakultě Univerzity Karlovy v oboru výtvarná výchova. V roce 1998 absolvovala v ateliéru konceptuální a intermediální tvorby u prof. Adély Matasové a v ateliéru fotografie Pavla Štechy na Vysoké škole uměleckoprůmyslové v Praze. V roce 2005 a 2009 byla finalistkou Ceny Jindřicha Chalupeckého, v roce 2004 finalistkou Ceny Jaromíra Funkeho. Ve svých převážně černobílých fotografických obrazech se Alena Kotzmannová zabývá možnostmi a paradoxy tohoto média. Skrze tyto možnosti nám evokuje různé nálady prostřednictvím až divadelní dekorativnosti či hororových prvků. Často pak zachází až do fiktivní vizuality, jíž dosahuje převážně rafinovanou hrou světla a stínu. Ukazuje nám, jak úzká může být hranice mezi naší realitou a čímsi neskutečným. Mnohdy nám dává tušit, že se zde udál příběh, jejž však již nemůžeme zastihnout. Je pryč. Pouze z výrazu fotografie o něm máme tušení.
